Cost-of-living crisis | Continued financial pressure on SA households

JOHANNESBURG – Average debt for households are now at its highest levels in 15 years.
That’s according to the latest Altron Fintech Household Resilience Index.
In 2022, 6.7 percent of household income was used for debt costs.
This number has now gone up to 9.1 percent.
Economist Roelof Botha says the increased debt burden is due to high interest rates over the past two years.
